Varonica's View is named after Varonica Priest, the daughter of the current property owner (Stephanie) and best friend of the property manager (Jerrica). Stephanie inherited the property from her parents, Sid & Jo Sidman, who bought the property and original home in 1975.
In 2014, the Courtney Fire swept through, destroying the house and most of the trees on the property. Thankfully, Sid and Stephanie's brother, who lived here at the time, had evacuated in time.
This is all that remained of the house:
Sid relocated to a new house in Awhanee but kept the property, which Stephanie inherited a few years later. The property sat empty for several years, with the beautiful valley below in even fuller view due to the tree loss from the fire.
One day, Varonica and her best friend, Jerrica, stopped by the property while visiting Bass Lake. Jerrica was stunned by the view and said, "Your mom needs to rebuild! People need to enjoy this view!"

Stephanie had wanted to rebuild but didn't feel up to the big undertaking. So, she decided to partner with Jerrica, who has a background in construction and real estate investing. Together, they custom-designed and built the barndo you're considering for your next vacation.
Not long after they decided to rebuild, Varonica passed away due to complications from pneumonia and a nursing error. Jerrica and Stephanie pressed on with the build, designing a place Varonica would have loved.
It was important for them to build an accessible-friendly vacation home because Varonica was born with a mobility disability. She had loved traveling, especially on short road trips, and used a walker and wheelchair to help her get around.
It is our hope that families and friends of all abilities get to enjoy Varonica's View and all of the wonderful things to do in the area. Thank you for being a part of the story of this property. We hope it brings you as many happy memories as we have!
